HAUL | Taking it easy

I decided to start blogging by taking it easy.. What's easier than a plain old haul and a little try-on haul. I saw these two pieces at Primark and immediately knew that it was going to be a piece I would be wearing a lot. The black top has a plisse as a touch of detail which makes the top looks more expensive than the 11euros I spent. The skirt is such a eyecatcher, I immediately saw potential. You could wear it fancy with some heels or dress it down with these H&M sandals (also known as the "jesus walks" sandals). I wouldn't combine these two pieces in particular but it happened to match together quite well.

Thank you for sticking with me. I'm trying to get this thing back going on, so please be patient with me while I'm taking this blog (perhaps maybe Youtube?) to the next level :)

OOTD | From maxi dress to maxi skirt

I was soo frustrated when I took this series of pictures because the lighting sucks soo much in my current room. I have no natural lighting and can only depend on the ceiling lamp for my light. I also don't have a tripod, so I should probably invest in one. So I felt like dressing up the other day, because it was sunday. People around here wear flats or sneakers all the time, which sometimes made me feel pressured to do so as well, but I'm persistent to keep wearing the things I like and would wear back at home.

So this skirt was actually a H&M dress which I DIYed into a skirt. I remember buying this dress with my friends and they couldn't understand why I liked it so much, they called it the 'soepjurk' which means the 'soupdress' because I was drowning in it. And while I was in that store my 'kinda' crush was passing by and stopped to say hi while I was holding my 'soepjurk'. I remembered seeing his 'disapproval' face while he looked at that dress. Which was kinda embarrassing, but I didn't care and bought it.  It was a maxi dress had long sleeves and was just not good for my height, but it was the print that I liked so much. After having it in my closet for probably 5 years unworn, I decided to make a maxi skirt out of it. I love it now, only if I did a better job at sewing it.. Now I have to wear it with this belt otherwise it will just come down.

Look at that... H&M should seriously sponsor me haha

What do you think of this outfit? Have you ever had an embarrassing encounter

OOTD | Hello new pants!

Hi guys! I'm back with an outfit of the day! I'm slowly getting used to everything here in Taipei and starting to feel a bit more myself. My parents aren't here anymore so I'm by myself from now on, which means more time to take outfit pictures! I bought this uber cute pants on sale at Forever21 here in Taipei. it was 475NT which is approximately €13, such a deal! I decided to wear more patterns in my outfits and I think this is a good start. It's quite chilly in Taipei so I'm wearing my leather jacket today. I planned to walk around a bit around the neighbourhood and around my uni.

What do you think of this outfit?

OOTD | Last week before leaving

As I was curling my hair with a curling iron in sections, I decided to like this look. So I'm rocking the 'half up knot wavy like a surfer dude' hair. This is also my last week in the Netherlands for a while, so my schedule of meeting (mainly eating) with friends before leaving is quite tight but really nice to spend some time with them. I've been spending money as well on last minute stuff I think I need for in Taiwan. And I still need to pack.. Seriously I have been watching Youtube videos on how to pack, but still am not moving my ass. About my outfit, I felt like wearing black. To make it not too goth, I wore this electric blue jacket I got from the Calvin Klein sample sale. It makes the outfit look less boring.. I hope. That's it for now!

OOTD | Such a rainy day

I've been wearing this shearling jeans jacket ever since I got it at Primark, especially since the weather is perfect for it. The only thing is that it isn't suitable for rain but there comes the Senz umbrella in hand.

What do you think of this quick and easy outfit?

OOTD | Heading to the city

When at least five people a day comment on your ripped jeans (not this jeans though) even though the holes are intentional and when you go to your part time job and someone (that someone being my brother) ask you not to wear teen clothes mentioning my ripped jeans, you know you need to buy some new pair of jeans. I've been looking in my closet but can't seem to find some regular skinny jeans, it might seem weird but somewhere between the ripped jeans trend my regular skinny's are disappearing. To be honest, I'm pretty much over the ripped jeans, it's getting a bit boring and winter is coming so it's not so practical. So I'm heading to the city to find me some good pair of skinny's.

Today's outfit is simple yet comfortable. I'm wearing my boyfriend jeans with an offshoulder top. I like to pair these jeans with some ankle boots or heels and this time I choose this fringed boot. I fell in love with it at first time while I was in Valencia. It's by the Italian brand 'Primadonna' and cost only 20 euros. I couldn't leave that behind!

Are you still on with the ripped jeans trend? How do you like this outfit?

OOTD & HAUL | On with the white sneakers trend

The first thing I did in the morning as I lay in my bed is.. checking the weather forecast of today. It's something I usually don't do since most of the time I'm driving in a car to uni and be indoors pretty much all the time, so I don't really care for some rain. But today was different..
I wanted to wear my new white sneakers so badly! Although the weather app told me that it was going to rain, the sun was shining and the sky was blue, so I risked my shoes for a quick errand. I wore my sneakers with some dark grey jeans and light grey sweater. I'm obsessed with this color combination. Perfect basic colors!

So let me tell you the story of the white Nike Airmax Thea. Like most of my hauls I didn't plan to buy them when I was at my local sport store called the Perry Sport. I received a mail from them that they would be having a special sale night and because I was a member of some running club I could get some extra discount. It was after work that I decided to pay the store a visit even though it was a bit of a detour to my home. I was planning to buy some new sport leggings or a cute sports top, unfortunately I didn't found something I was too excited about. As I was heading out the store I spotted the new shoes collection section and these ones stood out the most! I have been wanting to get on the white sneakers trend but wasn't too keen on spending a lot of money. With all the discounts together, I got 28% off which makes these babes 86 euros instead of the 120 euros. Great deal huh!

Are you on with the white trend? What do you think of these white sneakers?

OOTD | My new green velvet cap

I can't remember the last time I wore a (baseball) cap on my own free will and look at me now! I'm totally liking the look of it. I've been searching for one that isn't too 'sporty' and can match with anything. This velvet one from Pull&Bear is perfect for only 10euros and I just love the color. I didn't want the outfit to be too sporty since I'll be heading to the cinema and wanted to look nice. So I opted for my Zara wrap coat and combined it with some basic white blouse and dark blue jeans. To make this outfit less blahh and more interesting and sparkly, I added these silvery boots from Primark which I don't wear often enough.

I'm kind of excited of this cap and can't wait to wear and style it differently. I hope to find other great caps soon!

OOTD | It's february!

Can't believe it's already February. Time seem to fly by! I've got some exciting things going on this month. My semester at uni is starting again.. which probably isn't exciting for some, but I haven't been to school for a while now. So a little change is pleasant. This is hopefully the last course I have to take to finalise my Bachelor. And also somewhere at the end of february, I'll be going to the Huishoudbeurs 2015 as press and I've got some couple ideas that I'm working on for that event.

About today's outfit. I'm feeling a bit ill lately, especially my throat is aching. And since it's supposedly the coldest day of the year according to radio?, I decided to wear my turtle neck. I find this particular item hard to style with an outerwear actually, so it took me a while to get my outfit together. But eventually I'm quite pleased with it. I like the navy wrap coat with the turtle neck.

TBT | Night out in Barcelona

Since it's thursday, I thought I'd do a ThrowBackThursday post. Exactly a week ago, I was in Barcelona and what a difference in weather compared to where I'm at now. I wouldn't dare wearing a skirt without stockings without risking some serious bladder infection now, but it was perfectly fine there. This was the outfit I wore when we went out for some clubbing near the harbour of Barcelona.
I'm loving this skirt from Forever21. It's so easy to dress it up or down. I think the skirt itself is kind of fancy and I didn't want to go there too dressed up. So I combined the skirt with a simple grey v-neck. You can never go wrong with a simple grey tee.

Outfitpost | HAPPY NEW YEAR!

In about 2 hours it's official.. Goodbye 2014 and hello 2015! It's weird how fast a year can go and but I'm actually happy to close this chapter and head into a new chapter (sounds cheesy, I know).
This year I've learned some new things about myself and how I want to become as a person and I think that a new year is a great start to gain a step closer to my goals.

Anyway, this outfit is not my NYE outfit, but just an outfit I wore two days back. It seems to fit NYE though. For a semi-formal gathering with friends and family. The flowy top is perfect for hiding that belly you just gained from Christmas and the silver boots gives the outfit that bit of spark that fits NYE.

Thanks for putting up with me this year through this blog. I hope you had as much as fun as writing posts as you reading it.. May next year bring this blog to the next level and more for you to enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Lots of love,

xJ.

3 Looks for 3 occasions | Christmas Celebrations

As promised here are my three outfits I wore around the festivities. This time of the year is always the most stressful time for dressing yourself. There's this dinner with those group of friends another with your family and so on. And all of those times you want to dress appropriately and that can take  time and some serious preparations. Here are three looks I used for different occasions. The first is a pre-Christmas gathering with friends at a fancy restaurant. The second look is one I used for the mass at church. And the third look is an outfit I wore to have lunch with some friends. I hope to have inspired you with these looks for the remainder of 2014 festivities!

OOTD | Going all soft blue

I should probably stop wearing the same old fake leather jacket in this weather or start using a different leather jacket. But this one is just so easy to throw on and I like the length and the amount zilver hardware of it. Anyhow, I couldn't resist buying this soft blue sweater when I saw it on the sales rack at H&M. At first I wasn't really sure about the frizziness but it suits the model of the sweater and for the price of 15 euros I couldn't resist.

I'm heading out to a 'winter food truck festival' in Binckhorst, The Hague. So I hope this outfit can keep me warm.

*Sorry for the bad quality pictures, I only had a phone to take it from
