PERSONAL | #STOCKHOLM

photos found on Pinterest & Tumblr

It is settled! My friend and I booked our flights and will be booking our stay tomorrow. We're super excited to see Stockholm! I've never been there before so it's going to be a whole new experience. I hope I can take a lot of pretty photo's like these ones I found on Pinterest and Tumblr. I've heard a lot of good things of Stockholm, the land of Acne, H&M, IKEA and many more. Maybe not the best place to go to if you seek the sun, because there it's already snowing.. So must pack a lot of warm clothes.

Although I'm really tempted to shop there, I don't have the budget to do so at the moment (student life sucks). But I think there's a lot more to it than shopping! I can't wait to go there and see beautiful places. Tomorrow I'll be planning out our trip more precisely.. I can't wait to see the art at the metro stations, I've heard a lot of good stuff about it, and can't wait to breath in the beautiful landscapes of Stockholm's archipelago.

Have you ever been in Stockholm? Any tips and advice for my trip?

OOTD | Looking for the silver lining

H&M silver sweater (old), Unkown store in Amsterdam suede skirt, Costes necklaces

As promised, my outfit for the Winde Rienstra show at Amsterdam Fashion Week. I actually prepared something else but the weather was really horrible that day and I still had to go by public transport so I thought I should wear something a bit warmer. This silver sweater was perfect for it, the color sure made it a tad bit more festive. I actually threw this away with some other old clothes a few months ago (don't know why though) but I found it again in the sack where we put our old clothes in ready for the salvation army.

Anyway, my exam yesterday was a disaster. First I couldn't do the test because there are a few adjustments in the rules for participating tests this year and of course I didn't know of it.. When they told me it was at my own risk (they are going to grade it but may not count) I couldn't concentrate much, then the batteries of my calculator were almost empty so I had to rush before it wore out. And on top of it all, the questions sucked and I am certain that I didn't nail it. So basically I'm screwed because it means that I have to do this course all over again next year and I won't be able to get my Bachelor degree this year. On the bright side, I still don't know what to do with my study career, which master I want to take and even if I want to do one. So I probably will be busy figuring that out anyway.

EVENT | Stars in the firmament collection by Winde Rienstra

 photo windeshow.gif

When do you know to get a new camera? When you're about a meter away from models with beautiful garments on but still can't catch the beauty of the fabric in motion on camera.

So yesterday I went to my very first show at the Amsterdam Fashion Week 2014. I received a ticket from VitaCoco by joining a challenge and I got to see the Winde Rienstra show front row! I've already seen her work earlier on at the Dutch Design Week 2013. So I knew that it would be an awesome show. As I've just said before, I was so bumped out that I didn't really get a lot of good shots of the show, but I didn't want to mess with my camera settings while I could experience the garments in real life. Sometimes you just have to stop worry about taking pictures and enjoy the show! Well on to the collection..

Winde's collection is called "Stjerren oant it firmamint" which is Fryslan (different language somewhere in the Netherlands) for Stars in the firmament, a way to let her work shine as a flickering light in the dark. The collection consists of really soft fabric mixed with some hard materials. I like the contrast of the two materials and how she put it in harmony. This makes the models look like futuristic goddesses and warriors. And those shoes! Props for the models to be able to walk in them. The shoes are made of cork as far as I can see and its worn by every model.

My favorite look for this collection has to be the first one that started the show, the third picture. I love how she knitted this. And the construction and detailing is really remarkable. Another piece I really adore is the cropped knitted top with shorts. It's just so cute and soft, it reminds me of the cowl Katniss Everdeen wore in Hunger Games (Catching fire) mixed in with some cotton balls. Remind me to learn how to knit..

OOTD | Heading to Amsterdam Fashion Week

Issue 3.1 ombre faux leather jacket, H&M cropped jumper, H&M high waist jeans, Costes necklace

As some of you already know, I get to go to the Winde Rienstra show at Amsterdam Fashion Week by Vitacoco today. And although the timing and weather is bad right now (with my exams and all), I still am excited to go! Tomorrow I'll be posting about my first experience at AFW! Have to go now!

I can't stop wearing my Nikes because they go with everything and are so comfortable. I have to leave it for tonight though and try for something more 'formal'. Anyway, I actually prepared my outfit for tonight already and took a few pictures of it.. but now I'm wearing something different because the weather got bad and it wouldn't be responsible to wear it. Ah well the show must go on!

OOTD | Tie it up!

H&M plaid blouse as skirt DIY, Mango white shirt, H&M jacket, H&M leather ankle boots, Fjalraven backpack,
Lana's sieraden necklace
Just my luck.. I always get tons of ideas to post when I'm supposed to study and write reports. Yesterday night I was browsing through my closet to find something to wear for my first show at Amsterdam Fashion Week! Which will be this sunday, I'm so excited but I really didn't know what to wear. So as I'm digging up some old pieces and matched it up, I found some new exciting outfits. Still not certain what to wear for AFW but at least I got some outfits ready for the next few days..

I've seen a lot of plaid skirts and I really want to buy the perfect one as well but I don't have the time to search or the money (student life) for one. So I used this H&M blouse I had laying around and tie it up like a skirt. I like the outcome and it's super easy! You can do this with any blouse, if you don't mind wrinkling it a bit and there's no stitching needed. Ideal! Now I have my plaid skirt without spending any more money.

You guys interested in a DIY?

And how about this cool necklace I got from sweet Lana at Lana's sieraden. The knotted detailing is really cute and it looks great with any top under. I have some awesome news for you guys, you can win this necklace! The giveaway would only for you Dutchies unfortunately but no worries, I will have an international one in the future!

Stay tuned for the giveaway! I will post all the details tonight!

EVENT | Experiencing Adam

Adam levine photo adam.gif

As I've told in the previous post, I went to a Maroon 5 concert and it was fun! My friend and I took our time which eventually led us miss our train and ended up later than we anticipated. But we didn't really mind and just went with the flow.. The surprising part is even though we were quite late, we still got ourselves a nice place to stand! There were a lot of tall people as expected but we still got a pretty clear view. Everything went on smoothly, PJ Morton and Robin Thicke were great and everyone was on time! That's a first.. Back to mister Levine. Who wouldn't want a piece of that? Tell me where can I sign up for one of those. He sang great and I just realised how 'high' his voice really is, even when talking (I didn't realise it on The Voice). I talk as if Maroon 5 consists of only Adam Levine, but the other bandmates were awesome as well. The only negative part of experiencing Adam is that he refused to take off his shirt..

OOTD | Concert proof outfit

Bershka faux fur vest, Jane Blush blue chiffon shirt, H&M high waist jeans, Nike air max thea
Today I wanted to wear something I can stay warm but still can take it off, when it get too hot. Because I'm going to the Maroon 5 concert tonight, not sure if I'm really excited for it. They were supposed to perform somewhere in july last year and they postponed it till now. They will be performing some old songs and Robin Thicke, PJ Morton will be there as well. Not a real fan of Robin but I like PJ Morton. Anyway, I wanted something comfortable to wear but still a little bit of glam hence the faux fur. The only problem I would have is without heels I won't be able to see much in the crowd.. I hope there won't be a lot of tall people (probably won't happen). Now I haven't tried this combo of bright cobalt blue with the fur before, but I kinda like it. I guess you really could combine faux fur vest with anything! Well I need to get pumped up by listening to some Maroon 5 songs!

Do you think my outfit would be concert proof?

PERSONAL | Put it in a frame or just stick it... anywhere

polaroid POGO camera

Last friday, some girlfriends and I went to "Efteling", for you non-dutchies it's an attraction/theme park (mostly) for kids. The park is filled with old fairytales of princesses, elves, wolves and all kinds of stories you've heard when you were little. For this trip I decided to bring my Polaroid pogo camera with me because I never use it and I thought it would be fun to bring something else with me. I bought this camera probably about 4 years ago and I still have my first batch of prints, that should explain how rarely I use this. Although the camera quality is really crappy ( I mean like old Nokia camera phone quality) the results of the prints still has its charm. It gives that old analogue feel to it, although the it works on Zero Ink printing technology. The prints has some colored materials in it which will be activated using heat to colorize it into the pictures. The best part is that you can choose which picture you want to print. And the prints cost way less than the ones for Fujifilm Instax, you see anywhere lately. Anyway, I'm like rediscovering this camera and I'm excited to use it more!

They don't sell this model anymore, at least not on their official webshop. But they do have a new great model, which is probably better quality than this old grandpa. You can look at it here.

What do you think of this camera? Would you consider buying it?

HAUL | My love affair with Nike

Nike Air max thea black (here) , Nike Air max thea cherrywood (here)

I like to wear sneakers when I don't wear my ankle boots. And one of my favorite sneaker brand is probably Nike (surprise!). I've gotten really into them ever since I bought my janoski's, you can see the post here. It went from "into it" to "really liking it" as I got another pair here. And then it got worse with the Sky High Dunks here, quickly followed by my first ever Air Max Thea in Cherrywood here. I was in love as they were the comfiest sneakers I ever own. And I could literally bounce on my feet when I'm running or walking. So it's not a surprise when I finally got ahold on the black Thea's, as they run out fast (no pun intended), I bought it. Ah well it means that I won't be able to shop for awhile.. Probably a good thing.

Oh and If you ever consider on buying them, buy a half size up! It runs a bit small.

Do you like the Thea's? And do you have a favorite sneaker?

OOTD | Time to suit up!

Mango blazer, Unknown shirt, Seven Sisters jeans, Bershka brogues, Costes necklace, Zara bag

Fortunately the weather is quite nice despite the prediction of snow this week. So I decided to wear my brogues which I haven't got to wear a lot. These brogues are pretty awesome, it has a transparent heel to it!
Anyway, I wanted to buy this blazer a long time ago but was so glad I didn't because I got this on sale. I am seriously contemplating to never buy anything fully priced again. You can buy it here

Do you like how I styled the blazer? How would you style it?

HAUL & PERSONAL | Celine inspired Zara bag

Zara
I missed you guys! Disaster week is finally over, for now! I had a rough week at uni. I had to finish my minor project, but really didn't do much during the holiday, which made me do a lot of last minute work.. I had so much struggles the last half of college year that I just wanted to get it over with a passing grade. Which is such a shame, because I really do like the minor itself, just this project didn't really kick in. Because all of the procrastination I had to make it up in the last week.. I seriously was awake for 36 hours straight the last days before the presentation and I haven't really got my sleep back, so I'm writing this with a sleepy eye. After the presentation I went to the city to celebrate my passing grade with a Zara retail therapy! I got this envelop layered bag for 15 euros. This bag reminds me of the celine one. I have wanted to buy a similar one when I saw it on "A pair & a spare". This one is perfect, it's big enough for a tablet and has a long strap which you can take it off.

Do you also like to shop to celebrate a passing grade or something similar?

ootd | NYE

COS blouse, H&M faux leather pants, Sluijs Leder bag, H&M bordeaux pumps

First outfit of 2014? This is what I wore for NYE, I didn't really had a party to attend, just dinner and hanging out with family and friends, but I still think you should at least dress up for a new year right?
I bought this COS blouse on sale and the pictures just doesn't do justice on how nice it actually is.
