PERSONAL | #STOCKHOLM

photos found on Pinterest & Tumblr

It is settled! My friend and I booked our flights and will be booking our stay tomorrow. We're super excited to see Stockholm! I've never been there before so it's going to be a whole new experience. I hope I can take a lot of pretty photo's like these ones I found on Pinterest and Tumblr. I've heard a lot of good things of Stockholm, the land of Acne, H&M, IKEA and many more. Maybe not the best place to go to if you seek the sun, because there it's already snowing.. So must pack a lot of warm clothes.

Although I'm really tempted to shop there, I don't have the budget to do so at the moment (student life sucks). But I think there's a lot more to it than shopping! I can't wait to go there and see beautiful places. Tomorrow I'll be planning out our trip more precisely.. I can't wait to see the art at the metro stations, I've heard a lot of good stuff about it, and can't wait to breath in the beautiful landscapes of Stockholm's archipelago.

Have you ever been in Stockholm? Any tips and advice for my trip?

OOTD | Looking for the silver lining

H&M silver sweater (old), Unkown store in Amsterdam suede skirt, Costes necklaces

As promised, my outfit for the Winde Rienstra show at Amsterdam Fashion Week. I actually prepared something else but the weather was really horrible that day and I still had to go by public transport so I thought I should wear something a bit warmer. This silver sweater was perfect for it, the color sure made it a tad bit more festive. I actually threw this away with some other old clothes a few months ago (don't know why though) but I found it again in the sack where we put our old clothes in ready for the salvation army.

Anyway, my exam yesterday was a disaster. First I couldn't do the test because there are a few adjustments in the rules for participating tests this year and of course I didn't know of it.. When they told me it was at my own risk (they are going to grade it but may not count) I couldn't concentrate much, then the batteries of my calculator were almost empty so I had to rush before it wore out. And on top of it all, the questions sucked and I am certain that I didn't nail it. So basically I'm screwed because it means that I have to do this course all over again next year and I won't be able to get my Bachelor degree this year. On the bright side, I still don't know what to do with my study career, which master I want to take and even if I want to do one. So I probably will be busy figuring that out anyway.

EVENT | Stars in the firmament collection by Winde Rienstra

 photo windeshow.gif

When do you know to get a new camera? When you're about a meter away from models with beautiful garments on but still can't catch the beauty of the fabric in motion on camera.

So yesterday I went to my very first show at the Amsterdam Fashion Week 2014. I received a ticket from VitaCoco by joining a challenge and I got to see the Winde Rienstra show front row! I've already seen her work earlier on at the Dutch Design Week 2013. So I knew that it would be an awesome show. As I've just said before, I was so bumped out that I didn't really get a lot of good shots of the show, but I didn't want to mess with my camera settings while I could experience the garments in real life. Sometimes you just have to stop worry about taking pictures and enjoy the show! Well on to the collection..

Winde's collection is called "Stjerren oant it firmamint" which is Fryslan (different language somewhere in the Netherlands) for Stars in the firmament, a way to let her work shine as a flickering light in the dark. The collection consists of really soft fabric mixed with some hard materials. I like the contrast of the two materials and how she put it in harmony. This makes the models look like futuristic goddesses and warriors. And those shoes! Props for the models to be able to walk in them. The shoes are made of cork as far as I can see and its worn by every model.

My favorite look for this collection has to be the first one that started the show, the third picture. I love how she knitted this. And the construction and detailing is really remarkable. Another piece I really adore is the cropped knitted top with shorts. It's just so cute and soft, it reminds me of the cowl Katniss Everdeen wore in Hunger Games (Catching fire) mixed in with some cotton balls. Remind me to learn how to knit..

OOTD | Heading to Amsterdam Fashion Week

Issue 3.1 ombre faux leather jacket, H&M cropped jumper, H&M high waist jeans, Costes necklace

As some of you already know, I get to go to the Winde Rienstra show at Amsterdam Fashion Week by Vitacoco today. And although the timing and weather is bad right now (with my exams and all), I still am excited to go! Tomorrow I'll be posting about my first experience at AFW! Have to go now!

I can't stop wearing my Nikes because they go with everything and are so comfortable. I have to leave it for tonight though and try for something more 'formal'. Anyway, I actually prepared my outfit for tonight already and took a few pictures of it.. but now I'm wearing something different because the weather got bad and it wouldn't be responsible to wear it. Ah well the show must go on!
